Product Review

This new in box can opener attachment is easy to use and cuts clean. Just attach can opener to your mixer's accessory hub and off you go. A built-in magnet prevents lid from dropping into can contents. It is designed exclusively for use with ALL KitchenA

Amazon.com Review

Using your stand mixer to open tin cans seems beneath the machine's power, but then again, the stand mixer is all about versatility. The can opener attachment is a single, hefty piece of steel; attach it to the mixer's motor hub and position the can under the cutting blade. Pull the handle up and over and the can locks in place. Turn the power to speed 2 and watch it go. The stand mixer's weight balances heavy cans and its height accommodates tall ones. And while it's completely practical, its greater appeal is that it's fun to use. You might find yourself opening cans just so you can watch them twirl. --Betsy Danheim

This is the attachment I use more than any other on my kitchenaid. In fact, I leave this attached. Every part of this is made with quality steel and the item is surprizingly heavy for its size. It never has a problem opening ANY can, even ones with dented rims, or those somewhat rectangular with pull tabs that broke off instead of opening, and the magnet holds the lid when you remove the can. It takes about 5 seconds to open any can and is easy to clean with a damp paper towel without removing it from the mixer though it comes off easier than any other attachment I have. It stands out much farther than I expected (about 4 inches) from the machine, but I suppose that this is so the can won't come near the bowl or shield. It makes using the cover difficult to put on and even more difficult to remove, so I gave up on the cover. I haven't found a better can opener either manual or electric. I highly reccomend this.

This attachment is well worth the money! I shop in bulk, and this can opener opens the larger cans with ease.
I leave it attached and now that I use it almost daily I don't feel so bad about not using my expensive mixer as much. Attaches easily and you can tell it is quality. After having an under counter, (unsightly) a manual,(wrist problems) and a cordless can opener (battery died after 6 mos.)
I refuse to use anything else.

We have had our Kitchen Aid Can Opener for over 3 years, and it is one tought piece of metal. This heavy duty can opener can handle the larger cans with no problem. Unlike most can openers we have owned, this one can take the abuse. Before we purchased this attachment, we were replacing can openers every 4 to 6 months. This is top notch, performing like a commercial piece of equiptment. It doesn't take up any counter space, and is well worth the price we paid. We expect it to last as long as our Kitchen Aid Mixer. The last Kitchen Aid mixer we purchased lasted over 22 years.
