Amazon.com Review

I don't know why the term "soda jerk" stuck, because anyone who whips up luscious shakes is anything but. And this nifty Waring drink mixer is really easy to operate. First, slide the stainless-steel mixing cup up under the agitator and secure the lip under the cup holder, resting the bottom on the cup rest. Then, slide the control switch to low or high and that's it. It's versatile, too, and makes shakes or pancake batter, as well as whirring eggs and milk together for a perfect omelet. Best of all, it whips a cup of cream in less than a minute. And, if you're feeling swank, it mixes up a Grasshopper or Brandy Alexander in a snap. --C. Whitney-Ward

5.0 out of 5 stars Great kitchen Addition, May 19, 2001

This solid (and weighty) piece of equipment does a great job of mixing juices with powdered supplements, as well as ice cream drinks, etc. It has a compact triangular footprint (About 7-1/4" X 9" inches at the widest points) and is very stable. It is, however, an extremely tall appliance (18-3/8") which is too tall to fit under some overhead cabinets or on most shelves, so the buyer should check out storage options before purchasing. Although the stainless steel cup is 28 ounces, the maximum fill level is 16 ounces (and minimum is about 4 ounces--smaller quantities would not come in contact with the mixing disk.) This truly is very easy to clean - run with soapy water in the cup to wash and then with fresh water to rinse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Durability is the key here, September 23, 2002

I got a deal on this one (clearance) but it's worth the full purchase price. The main thing that sold me was the fact that the whipping blade (agitator) is metal. All the other drink mixers I've seen have a cheap plastic agitator and I've heard stories about them chipping/breaking off which made me very hesitant, even though I've wanted one for a long time. This [one] will not chip or shatter...in fact it did a good job of nicking up my favorite 18/10 stainless steel spoon I was using to stir my first milkshake while it was mixing! It's a solid, well-built addition to your kitchen whether you use it once a month or 10 times a day. (It also looks great next to my KitchenAid mixer.)

I was hesitant about spending over a hundred bucks on a mixer (I just wanted something to make protein shakes), but I'm really glad I got this. It looks great on the counter, is easy to clean, and is a very convenient way to make shakes. Warning: it doesn't crush ice.
